We got a puppy! This has been a long time coming and we are so excited to finally introduce our new tiny best friend, Hudson. We have been sharing lots of photos and videos over on Instagram, so be sure you are following along over there. For years, Eddie and I have been talking about the day we would get a dog and we can’t believe the day is finally here. I have received a few questions about him on Instagram so I will answer all of those here!
If you’ve been around for awhile, you may know of my family’s dog Vin. I lived at my parents house with him for the last 5 years and him and we created a very special bond. When I moved to Pennsylvania this summer, it was heartbreaking to leave him. I truly felt so sad without him. In June 2020, I decided to look into getting a puppy. I knew I wanted the same breed as Vin, so I actually went back to his breeder and inquired. The wait list was really long and we were told we could probably get a puppy in Spring/Summer 2021 but since we still had a wedding ahead and knew we needed time to adjust to life together, we were okay with that.
Fast forward, in November we got the email that the pups were born and our names were reaching the top of the wait list. We were so surprised and so incredibly happy. Since we are still awaiting the end of this pandemic, we have found that our newlywed life has consisted of a lot of time at home. What better time than now to bring home a dog? So, we went through the process, picked a puppy over a zoom call and now he’s home! It feels like a dream and we are in total heaven. So, let me tell you a little more about this little love, Hudson!
Introducing Hudson, Our New Puppy
What is his breed?
Hudson is an Irish Goldendoodle! A lot of people ask what that means. There are Irish Doodles (Irish Setter and Poodle). Hudson is an Irish Goldendoodle. His mom is an Irish Setter/Golden Retriever and his dad is a Poodle. He looks like a Goldendoodle but he has a red/apricot colored coat. He is a full size, so he will grow to be between 30-50 pounds.
Where did you get him?
We got him from a breeder that we trust in Wolcott, Indiana. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to share their info with you. It has been wonderful working with them through both Vinny and Hudson.
I saw that you picked him up at the airport, how was that experience?
It was super easy! My family has a lot of experience doing this and it’s always been a good experience. We payed a flat travel fee to the breeder and they organized his travel from Indiana. We found a flight that worked and they shipped him. Hudson came in a pet carrier and we picked him up at the cargo center. I tracked him the entire day with a code and then we received him at the airport.
How did you pick his name?
Eddie came up with a list of dog names one day in his free time and when he read them to me aloud, I heard Hudson and just knew it was the one. We both loved it but said we would keep searching. Throughout the next couple of weeks, we found ourselves talking about our puppy as Hudson and then it just stuck. We love it and it fits him so well!
How have the first few days been?
Hudson has made it easy. Seriously, I’m blown away but how good he has been. I’d be lying if I said it isn’t a lot of work, but it’s truly the best. He sleeps through the night, doesn’t make a sound, is picking up on commands, has only had one accident in the house (our fault) and he is so curious and smart. He’s a full time job right now and our eyes never leave him, but it has been so fun watching him explore and learn about his new surroundings. He sleeps a lot, plays a lot and then sleeps some more.
What dog products have you used that you like?
He’s still so young and small and curious that we are introducing things to him slowly and learning what he likes along the way. If you are interested in more dog products, let me know in the comments and I’ll be sure to share more of that on here and on my Instagram. Below are the items I have purchased so far.

Was the breeder sunshine acres by any chance? We are getting a puppy from them in March 2022. Would love to talk to you about your experience if that’s the case.
