We took a trip to Snowmass Village and Aspen, Colorado a few weeks ago and had the best time! I love sharing travel guides and recommendations with you in hopes that you can use this as a resource the next time you visit. We were there mid-February for my husband’s work conference. He did some skiing during the day, but being pregnant, I stayed back and just enjoyed our hotel, got work done by the fire and relaxed. I hope this short Colorado travel guide can help you on your next trip.
HOW WE GOT THERE:
We flew from Philadelphia to Vail, through Denver and the drive from Vail to Snowmass Village took us about an hour and a half. It’s a very easy drive and the views along the way were gorgeous. You can fly directly into Aspen, and the airport is very close to Snowmass Village (15-20 min drive) but from what we have heard, it’s very hit or miss with the weather and we didn’t want to risk it. We flew home the same way we got there, Vail to Philadelphia, through Denver. The trip altogether felt very easy.
WHERE WE STAYED:
We stayed in Snowmass Village, which is it’s own little town and it’s absolutely adorable. There are a couple hotel options in the village and we stayed at the Viceroy Snowmass. It was very nice, but definitely a splurge. It’s conveniently located and easy to get to the upper village from the hotel. The hotel pretty much has it all, ski access, a beautiful spa and pool, great dining and more. We loved our room and our overall stay.
WHERE WE ATE:
We ate at so many places and didn’t have any bad experiences so I’ll share all of our top recs!
- Venga Venga
- Mix 6
- Viceroy Snowmass Toro Kitchen
- Base Camp Grill
- Slice of Italy
- The Crepe Shack
- French Alpine Bistro (Downtown Aspen)
- Sundae (for ice cream)
There are endless options for restaurants and places to eat/hang out. These are all the ones that we tried and loved!
Overall Thoughts
We loved both Snowmass Village and Aspen, but we did not realize how upscale everything is. It was very expensive to eat in mostly all areas. The views are incredible – you’re surrounded by mountains and stunning scenery. Everything is easily accessible by walking. We got a rental car and only used it once during the whole week. I also had never experienced altitude like I did in Colorado and altitude + pregnancy was an interesting mix. I felt like I was constantly out of breath. We both loved the trip and would definitely go back. Next time I hope to ski. My husband said it was his favorite skiing he has ever done and from what I saw on the trail maps, there is something for everyone and every skill level.
