Well, hello! It’s been awhile since I’ve just chatted with you. To be completely honest, I have been feeling a little uninspired lately and I’m trying to light the spark inside of me to start writing again. Let’s be real though, life has been crazy lately, for all of us. Between the ongoing pandemic, crazy weather all over the United States and everything else in between, my mind has been a bit preoccupied. So, instead of coming on here to chat about the latest skincare product, I just want to chat to you like a friend – share what’s on my mind, what I’ve been up to and what’s in store for the upcoming months. Here’s my end of summer recap and a few of my fall plans.
Summer Recap
I think we can all agree that summer is too short and every year it flies by even quicker somehow. Our summer was busy, full of lots of weddings and home improvement projects. We went to 5 weddings in two months and that consumed most of our weekends in June and July. We made quick trip to Florida to see my family and explored a few cute towns near where we live. A couple of nights, we even ventured into the city and spent a many nights outside.
In the beginning of summer we completely transformed our back patio. I will do a full blog post on that soon, but I have a highlight saved on my Instagram if you want to check that out. The transformation is absolutely insane and I’m obsessed with it. I’ll insert a quick before and after photo here.
My husband and I took a lot of photos and I got a new camera lens that I’m really excited to use! We also celebrated our one year wedding anniversary, fastest year ever. We went to a fancy dinner in the city and it was magical. This was also our first summer with Hudson, our Irish Doodle and it was so much fun. He keeps us on our toes always and he makes every experience so much more fun. We went to a summer concert at Shady Brook Farm and we are planning to go to their Fall Fest this year too. I dyed my hair a little darker – closer to my natural color and I love it so much.
This summer was so much fun, and even though it’s coming to an end, I’m really excited for fall, my favorite season. We have so much to look forward to! I’ll share just a few.
Fall Plans
We are leaving for Switzerland next week! This trip has been in process for a long, long time. We had planned to go for our honeymoon last year, but obviously, that didn’t work out. It feels surreal that it’s actually happening and we will be there so soon. Be sure to stay tuned to Instagram! We will be sharing lots of photos and videos there. I’ll recap in blog posts when I get back too. Subscribe to my blog here so you don’t miss anything!
As I mentioned above, we have plans to go to Fall Fest. Our area has so many beautiful farms so we will explore. A few years ago we went apple picking and made homemade apple sauce. It was one of my favorite memories from fall and I hope to do that again this year. I’m a sucker for fall festivities so you’ll definitely find me trying all the hot apple cider I can find in the coziest sweaters I own.
I also hope to decorate our house when we get back from our trip. Last year, I was so focused on furnishing the house that I didn’t really get a chance to decorate but this year, I am going all in on the decor. I have done a little shopping but could use your help. Where do you find the best fall decor?
We will probably also go to Florida at some point this fall and I hope to have my family come here to visit. We have one more wedding to go to this October and I’m so excited to see friends I haven’t seen in awhile. A tradition we started last year is watching all of the Harry Potter movies during the fall. We love them! I can’t wait to watch them all over again this year.
Products I Have Been Loving
This summer, I found a few new products that I have really been loving. I am totally obsessed with this Tula Sunscreen. Every single morning, I apply it, even on the overcast days. I also started using the RevitaLash Eyebrow Pen and it works so well. My new favorite pair of black leggings from Amazon can be found here. I just ordered another pair. I dabbled a bit in Walmart Fashion and I found affordable shoes that are Vans dupes that I absolutely love. For working out, I always reach for my Fabletics. It is truly my favorite workout clothing and I always look forward to the outfits every month.
