Going into the new year, I am on a mission to be my healthiest self, from the inside out. Two of my main focuses are my mental health and my hair. I have always been lucky with having semi-healthy hair, but the more I learn while scrolling through Instagram and Tik Tok about hair health, the more it makes me want to take control of my own. The internet is flooded with ads promoting thousands of products, so how are we supposed to know which ones to trust? I have taken steps over the last few months to start to start this journey and today I am going to share 3 things you need to invest in to protect your hair.
I have shared my hair care routine (including products that have saved my hair) on here before, and I constantly update my blog with my latest hair, skin and beauty products on this page here. Everyone’s hair is different so what works for me, may not work for you. Always do your research and seek advice from your hair care professional. I plan to share more of my hair care journey throughout the year so be sure to follow along on Instagram.
Aside from using minimal heat and wearing protective hairstyles (more to come on that later), there are a few things that you can do immediately to protect your hair. These three products have been in my haircare routine for awhile now and have changed my life. I highly recommend you invest in at least one, if not all of these three items below. You won’t regret it.
3 Products You Need to Invest In to Protect Your Hair
- Silk Pillowcase
- I am sure you have heard this before, but investing in a silk pillowcase is so worth it. Sleeping on a cotton pillowcase is rough on your hair and can lead to breakage. They are less absorbent so they allow your hair and skin to hold the moisture from the products. The silk pillowcases also help reduce friction and frizz. I bought one for every bed in our house and I even take it with me when I travel.
- Microfiber Hair Towel
- Gone are the days of wrapping your hair up with a large, heavy bath towel. Doing that will tug on your hair create frizz. A microfiber hair towel helps absorb water without causing excessive dryness and is way more gentle on your hair. I absolutely love using mine and my hair dries much nicer than ever before.
- Wet Brush
- My wet brush is my favorite hair brush I have ever had. I have had it for years and will never return to a regular hair brush. This is extremely important if you are someone that brushes through your hair right after you get out of the shower. Still, be extra gentle and always brush from the bottom up. I also like to use a wide tooth comb and brush through the tangles gently.
These are just three of many things you can do to protect your hair and I plan to start sharing a lot more on this topic, so be sure to subscribe below so you never miss a thing.
