Strasburg Scooters | Tour Amish Country in Lancaster County, PA

Today’s blog post is a really fun one – I am sharing all the details on Strasburg Scooters that you may have seen on my Instagram Stories over the weekend. If you are more of a visual person, you can watch our video recap here. Eddie booked this excursion as a wedding gift and this was my first time out to this part of Pennsylvania. Lancaster is known for the beautiful farms and Amish country, but I had no idea just how incredible it is. Before I get into the details, I want to say that this was an absolute blast and I’d do this again in a heartbeat. It was an unforgettable experience!

Lancaster County

Lancaster County is in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania, just an hour and a half from the Philadelphia area. It is known to be Amish farm country and it holds so much beauty in the land. Life seems to move a little bit slower out on the back roads and it is a wonderful place to find peace and tranquility. Here are 15 fun facts about Lancaster County.

Strasburg Scooter Tours

Strasburg Scooters offers guided tours through Lancaster County’s Amish farmlands, riding alongside horses and buggies as well as past schoolhouses. There are a variety of different kinds of tours you can choose from. We did the covered bridge tour.

After you choose what kind of tour you’d like to do, you can choose what type of scooter to do it on. There are single and double passenger scooters as well as what they call, Scoot Coupes, an adorable three-wheeled convertible – that’s what we had (pictured)!

Everything about the tour was perfect, from start to finish. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our tour guide was really fun! You can read the FAQ here. The tour was three hours and before the tour begins, there is an in depth training session so you can get familiar with your ride. The tour would be a great date idea, but would also be fun to do with your family. I highly recommend going in September – the weather for us was absolutely perfect, and right on the cusp of the fall foliage. Add it to your fall bucket list!

What to Bring

There is a list on the FAQ page on the website, but here is what I recommend.

  • Sunglasses (you must wear them on the tour)
  • Water
  • Light sweatshirt/jacket
  • Snacks
  • Toilet paper (if you have to go, you’ll have to go on the side of the road)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Camera

What You’ll See

You will drive through beautiful Amish country and see working farms, a wide variety of crops, animals grazing in the fields and you will encounter Amish buggies. Depending on the tour and the route you take, you may even see a few bodies of water. Our tour was majority backroads and there was a whole lot to see. There were times on the tour where I truly felt like I was in a painting.

The entire experience was amazing, and if you are looking for a day or weekend trip in the Lancaster area, definitely check out Strasburg Scooters!

The Speckled Hen Breakfast

If you are in the area, about a 3 minute drive from the scooter office, check out The Speckled Hen for breakfast or lunch. It was the cutest spot with amazing food and coffee.

I absolutely love Lancaster. Such a great place to visit in PA. All the farms and scenery is just gorgeous. But I can say I have never taken in the sights on a scooter. Sounds like such a fun way to tour the county.

Your photos are gorgeous and so well taken! I love the sound of Lancaster and would love to visit some day, maybe after COVID has died down a little.
    Hope you’re staying safe.
