make money from home

There’s an endless amount of articles circling the internet promoting ideas on how to make money from home. Everyone wants to do it, but is it really as simple as the internet makes it out to be? After years of exploring, I’m here to tell you that it’s not always easy, but it can be done. Like anything, it takes time and patience, but the rewards will come and actually, it’s really a lot of fun.

HOLD UP! Are you following me on Instagram yet?

There are so many ways to generate additional income from home, but I’m just going to share what has worked for me personally. I have always wanted to start my own business, ever since I was a little girl. As a very young lady, I had a journal with sketches for the clothing line I was designing. In middle school I made jewelry in my bedroom and sold it to my friends. The entrepreneurial flame inside me is still burning and I channel it through these side hobbies of mine.

3 Ways To Make Money From Home

Start a Blog

I started my blog three years ago and it was the best decision I have ever made. I know it’s not for everyone but if you are looking for a creative outlet or it’s something you’ve wanted to do for awhile, I am your biggest cheerleader. It may seem like a saturated market, but trust me, there is room for you.

The beauty of blogging is that your blog is yours. If you’re looking to get started, I recommend hosting with BlueHost and using WordPress to build your site. Start your blog right now!

Poshmark

I have been using Poshmark for the last six years and I have made an incredible amount of money just by selling clothing from home. Sign up and use code SEH1204 to get $10 automatically here.

I did a full blog post highlighting the 10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Joined Poshmark. It has plenty of helpful tips if you are new to the app!

A few pointers are:

  • Engage with other sellers
  • Post frequently and consistently
  • Be patient
  • Write detailed product descriptions
  • Take good, quality photos

I have done both the boutique side of it and just selling clothes I already own and both are lucrative through the app. It just depends what you prefer. Be sure to follow me so I can follow you back!

Be sure to check out this post! It has a lot of really helpful tips.

Money Saving Apps

This is something I wish I would have started doing sooner, but better late than never. I am only going to share two of the many apps out there, but for me personally, these two are my favorite.

RetailMeNot

I have been a user of RetailMeNot for just under a year now and it has totally changed the game for me. It’s really easy to use and it’s free to sign up. It’s available as an app or you can login on the website. When you purchase through RetailMeNot, you will be able to earn cashback on your purchases and all purchases, big or small will add up. I have made $47.14 back on my recent online shopping orders. This is what your wallet will look like.

In my opinion, it’s silly not to sign up! If you’re making the purchases anyway, you might as well earn some cash while doing it.

In addition to the cashback feature, you can also find an endless supply of coupon codes and information on the latest deals going on on all retailers that are affiliated with RetailMeNot.

Swagbucks

I’m pretty new to Swagbucks, but so far I have been loving it. It’s a rewards and loyalty-program where you can earn gift cards by participating in paid surveys, watching videos and searching the web. In return, you will earn gift cards so some of your favorite retailers including Amazon, Walmart and PayPal. Sign up for a free account here.

Similar to RetailMeNot, you can also find the best sales/deals and earn cashback on your purchases. I love them both.

I have an app called Step Bet. You link it with your activity tracker and if you get a certain amount of steps you make money. Win/win! Thanks so much for sharing this with all of us!

Starting the blog has really helped me make some sort of money. I currently earn enough for my part of the mortgage payment which is a far cry from nothing!

I keep thinking about using Poshmark to sell some of my gently used clothes, but I usually overwhelm myself and then change my mind. I am going to have to check out your blog post about using Poshmark! It looks like you’ve had amazing success with using it. I have SO many clothes that are in amazing condition… I just never wear them.
