It’s the last day of January and that means it’s time to start thinking about a Valentine’s Day outfit! A family owned and run company with a no-waste approach. All pieces are made to order so that there is no wasted time or raw materials and customers receive incredible turn around times. They created a new company in Bali to ensure that production for Wooden Ships would be fair and ethical. While knitting machines are traditionally operated by men, they have initiated a program to train women and break the cultural barrier. Today, more than 60% of the knitters are women.

Carbon Footprint
Wooden Ships is working towards a paperless office and has already made many steps towards a more sustainable work environment. All paper, cardboard , plastic, glass and metal at the factory is recycled and all yarn waste is donated to be reused locally for stuffing in pillows and dolls. The company aims to reduce their carbon footprint by presenting wholesale collections early enough that retailers can order with minimum lead time of 4 months, allowing shipment by sea in order to save the planet from more CO2 (how cool is that?!).
Simple Packaging
To combat packaging waste, Wooden Ships uses eco-friendly oxo-degradable plastic bags. These bags are produced with an additive (d2w) that makes plastic decompose quicker than normal plastic. All goods are vacuum packed to minimize the size and number of boxes shipped.
